Sapol | A woman has been charged after leading police

Update 7.50pm: A woman has been charged after leading police through metropolitan Adelaide this evening.

Just before 4.55pm, police spotted a stolen Mitsubishi sedan on Richmond Road where the driver, who was the only occupant of the car, collided with the rear of a police car causing minor damage.

The driver was pursued to Henley Beach Road where an innocent motorists car was side-swiped by the driver at the intersection of South Road. Police continued to pursue the car to Port Road and then through the city to The Parade at Norwood.

PolAir, the police helicopter, was by this time monitoring the car and tracked the driver to the backstreets of Unley. Fortunately for police the driver then chose Fairford Street, a dead end road. Patrols were able to swoop on the driver, placing her under arrest.

The 32-year-old woman from Adelaide has been charged with acts to endanger life, illegal use of a motor vehicle, engaging in a police pursuit and resisting arrest.

She has been refused police bail and is expected to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
